Helping Young People Find Their Place in the World

In a fast-changing world, education should be more than academics. At International School Zurich North (ISZN), learning is about identity, confidence, and finding your place – within a community, and beyond.

Located in Zurich's dynamic Glattpark area, ISZN offers an international education for students from 3 months to 18 years. With a nurturing, personalised approach and a strong academic foundation, ISZN helps children grow into kind, capable, and curious global citizens.

From the earliest years, children at ISZN are supported in both English and German, laying the groundwork for strong communication and cultural awareness. In the Early Years programme – starting from just three months old – learning is play-based, caring, and inspired by the International Baccalaureate (IB) Primary Years Programme (PYP).

The IB PYP continues into Primary School, where students are encouraged to ask questions, explore big ideas, and develop both academic and emotional skills. ISZN's teachers don't just teach; they listen, guide, and celebrate each child's journey.

As students enter Middle School, they transition to the British curriculum. Early exposure to iGCSE-style learning helps students strengthen subject knowledge while building critical thinking and independence. This phase is designed to nurture confidence and stretch young minds in meaningful ways.

By Upper School, learners are prepared to pursue internationally respected iGCSEs and A-Levels – opening doors to top universities across the world. Throughout, ISZN balances academic rigour with the kind of personal attention that helps students feel seen, supported, and empowered to grow.

But education at ISZN goes far beyond the classroom. Students enjoy a vibrant co-curricular life that includes LEGO robotics, drama productions, Playball, and award-winning sports teams. These activities spark creativity, build resilience, and strengthen friendships.

The school's modern, light-filled campus is designed with wellbeing in mind. Flexible classrooms, STEAM labs, outdoor learning areas, and a bright, welcoming library create a space where children feel calm, engaged, and inspired to learn.

As part of the global Cognita family of schools, ISZN students take part in cross-cultural projects and digital collaborations with peers around the world – experiences that deepen their understanding of international perspectives and empathy.

With over 36 nationalities represented among students and more than 25 among staff, diversity is part of everyday life at ISZN. The school's internationalism isn't just something it teaches – it's something it lives.

What truly sets ISZN apart is its people. Teachers bring global experience, creativity, and care to every classroom. They take the time to understand each child – not just as a learner, but as a person.

At every step, ISZN focuses on what really matters:

  • Knowing each student as an individual
  • Teaching skills for life, not just exams
  • Encouraging voice, choice, and personal growth
  • Building confidence through belonging

ISZN is more than a school. It's a place where young people are empowered to find their voice – and their place in the world.
